Al Jazeera Second Take On Malaysia's "Allah Row"

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Al Jazeera Takes on Malaysian Religious Violence

"Allah Row" : After Eight Church, A Convent, and a Surau, Now a Gurdwara Is Attacked

Eight churches and one convent were undoubtedly attacked in the Allah row.

A surau which had its sliding door damaged by a stone, was earlier attributed to a drunkard, but later police said it might be anything, including being related to church attack.

The real question is, has someone done a little something and now it has gone out of hand? Is he shivering now or will he be glad?

That is what Malaysians of all religions should consider.

Allah Row - Another Attack on Churhes, This Time in Taiping

Taiping's All Saint's Church and SMK Convent Taiping was attacked last night, making them the fifth and sixth attacks on churches.

Luckily, both Molotov did not explode.

Church officials however said the bomb at Convent was most probably meant for St. Louis next door.

Does it means St. Louis in peril danger now, that the bad guy might be back to finish the job?

With more and more attacks, it is hoped that Malaysians of all races will stay calm and stand together against these terrorists.

"Allah Row" & Churches Burning - IGP Asked Churches to Fend for Themselves

The Inspector General of Police seems to have a great idea for churches in Malaysia in the face of crisis - fend for yourselves.

Noting that there are some 200 churches in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, the IGP also said they have to cover mosque and other place of worships as well.

Hello Mr. IGP, why the need to cover mosque or any other place of worship when only churches got attacked?

When you can spare almost 30 Special Branch officer looking at 20 protesters, why not spare one constable at every churches in Selangor and KL for the night? Afterall, only 200 policemen on beat are needed, and Malaysians sorely need policemen on beat on the road.

Even if you cannot spare 200 men, surely one patrol cars per district can be spared to cruise around?

And what is the progress of your investigation?

Stop giving excuses and all. Give us result.

Friday "Allah Row" Protest Minimal and Peaceful

IT was expected to be a fiery affair, what not with the Prime Minister himself had given tacit approval,

But yet, no, with the protest peacefully ended today. Some 1500 people were reportedly joined the National Mosque protest while funnily, 30 onlookers (mostly Special Branch officers) looking at 20 protesters in Shah Alam.

Why the hell they need so many SB to look at 20 peaceful protesters is above me. Of course, the nation's interest would be better served with those SB officers on some other things else when they realized there are only 20 people, no?

I would be the first to say freedom to peaceful assembly should be upheld but the way some banners are put are smacked of threat and violence.

Be that as it may, Malaysians should educate themselves and read more on issues like this. For example on this "Allah Row", the origin of the word in Arabic, the usage by non Muslim in Arab, the usage and the understanding of the term in Malaysia, the usage and understanding of the term in both Islam, Christianity, and Judaism and other relevant issues should be read and appreciated, before one jump into the emotional bandwagon sponsored by some "interested" parties.

May we all have religious respect and tolerance.

"Allah Row" Protest : Three to Four Churches Attack & Two Received Phone Threat

In a sad day for Malaysia and a field day for religious extremist, after three churches were under attack, Malaysiakini reported at least 2 received phone threat.

The three are Metro Tabernacle Church in Taman Melawati, Church of Assumption in Petaling Jaya, and Life Chapel Church also in Petaling Jaya.

Al-Jazeera meanwhile reported that four churches were attacked, as well as allegations from various people like Marina Mahathir and Azmi Sharom about the shoddiness of how the government is handling the issue, and even pandering to these kind of people.

And as i write this short piece, a little search showed that news portals around the world are picking this up, and there are just too many news portals that i cannot be bothered to post link.

And please ask yourself, Malaysians, what are we becoming?

Dr. Ridhuan Tee, You Got Yourself Very Wrong

You can read about Dr. Ridhuan Tee, senior lecturer of a public university's article which advocates unequal treatment of Malaysian citizens according to race here (Malay version) and here (English version).

And he had got himself very wrong.

Allow me to put it in a short, concise manner.

The social contract were changed many times in the past, and guess what, they all tends to benefit one group of people.

Originally, it was not meant to be perpetual, but merely until Malays can stand on their own.

Now, the proponent of racist policies tried to argue that it was due to the Malays being the majority and that they are Bumiputera.

Who is kiasu now, Dr. Tee?

About religion, wow!!!

By saying that Muslims is the majority in the country, he wanted to put justify everything to be in the benefits of the Muslims in the expense of other religion. Nothing wrong with arguing like that, afterall wasn't "Might is Right" is how racists around the world based their argument with?

But Dr. Tee also sees it fit to ridicule other religion.

First, he tried to say that the celebration of non Islam festivals outshine the Islamic ones. Citing Christmas and New Year, he said that eventhough only 9% Christians in Malaysia, the shopping complexes in Pakatan rules states make it as though these festivals are more important that Hari Raya and Islam New Year.

How stupid and petty. IT seems he turned a blind eye on how the whole nation celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri. He forgot about the programmes, the sales, the decoration, the open houses, the money spent on it.

And i think he definitely forgot that Awal Muharam is not really to be celebrated like a festival, but it is a moment of reflection and to migrate from bad to good.

I think i need not give more examples.

Forgot something Dr. Tee?

From bad to worst, Dr. Tee tried to argue that the non Muslims are using too much space for their burials. It seems he buried his head inside the sand. Did he not know that nowaday Chinese had this thing called the fire burial where the body is burnt down to ash and they occupy a size of a football in apartment style cemetery?

Then he said the non Muslims religious ceremony and funeral caused traffic jam.

Holy shit, can Dr. Tee point out which religious ceremony and funeral that caused traffic jam?

As far as i remember, only Police roadblock in the days leading to Hari Raya (nothing to do with Islam, but more to do with the Police and their "needs"), political demonstration, accident and rush hours on working days caused traffic jam.

Then Dr. Tee had a problem with the way the non Muslims built their tomb, which he said was extravaganza compared with the Muslims ones, which is simplier. He said the Muslims did not ask for the same rights here (i think about the design?) and this proves that they are not kiasu.

No, Dr. Tee, Malays are not kiasu but your argument certainly is very much lousy and flimsy. How can you compare a Muslim tomb that cannot be built extravagantly compared to a non Muslim's ones that building it as grand as possible is a must? And need i remind you again that the many of the Chinese tombs are now in the form of apartment?

Then he wanted to say that the non Islam worship places overwhelmed the Mosques.

Bullshit.

Does he know not that each new township must have a new mosque?

And each existing township must have a mosque too.

And not to mention surau?

But the non Muslim ones takes a long time to approve, unless you are in Tok Guru Nik Aziz's state, which practice the closest resemblance to Islam in administration.

And take a look on how are the non Muslim worship place. No, not the Kek Lok Si and the likes that are money spinning tourism area. Take a look on how the Hindu temples that were forced to be built illegally. Take a look that the worship places are now in shoplots. And these are main worship area, not the surau type, if you talk about the class of worship centre, they are the same as mosque, but they are now in shoplots instead of in a proper place.

I am not trying to say they must be given the same allocations or thing like that but please don't try to stir emotions and fear in the Malays' heart by saying that mosques are overwhelmed by non Islam worship place.

And about the Grik parliamentary seat and Penang BN leadership seat, that is purely your Barisan matter. It has nothing to do with racial relationship in Malaysia. If there is anyone who is kiasu in this case, that would be the Barisan component parties that are kiasu.

A reminder -

UMNO, PAS, PKR do not represent Malays, they just represent their supporters.
Likewise, MCA, Gerakan, DAP do not represent Chinese, just their supporters.
MIC, Makkal Sakthi, Hindraf do not represent Indians, just their supporters.
And so do all political parties.

And we do not need racists who act like their doing the world good trying to stir more racism.

Jet Engine Found!! Is Customs Also Involved?

It seems our stolen F 5E jet engine is in Argentina, if report from TheStar is to be believed.

And get this, they were shipped from Port Klang to a third country before ended up in Argentina, using original documents on sales and shipping of parts.

Just how the hell they get all the original documents approved?

You need to get through Custom for anything exported, so does this mean some Customs officers are also involved?

Or worst, cheated?

This net is getting bigger and bigger. Can we really trust the Police and Attorney General to do the job? Or should there be Royal Commission to deal with the problem?

I think with the reputation of the Police and AG, perhaps the citizens will only be assured if there is a Royal Commission.

Opps!! They Did it Again - Terengganu's Bus Terminal's Roof Collapsed

Terengganu must be having all the bad luck of having lousy roof builders.

After the newly minted RM 300 million stadium collapsed, now the roof of a soon to be opened RM 4.2 million bus and taxi terminal also collapsed.

And all that we know for now is that four workers were injured.

Before you could say "holy shit", it was found out that RM 123 million Sultan Mahmud Airport Terminal and RM 18 million Batu Buruk Aquatics Complex also had roof problems, both only a year old.

Now, now, maybe its time we fire all the roof builders in Terengganu. They are all incompetent.

Equally incompetent is the company that employ them.

And worst is, the government agency that appoint them.

What has become of our public buildings? What had become of our Public Work Department?

Sack Sack Sack!!!

Sack the Government as well!!

Najib and Zahid Should Give Satisfactory Explanation or Resign Over Lost Fighter Jet Engine

It would be an affront to common sense that a fighter jet engine would be lost to theft in custody of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, but it did happened.

And guess what, the RM 50 million F 5E engine ended up being sold to a company based in South Africa.

This blogger remembers watching the news over 8TV that reported Zahid saying the security system was foolproof, but the theft happened due to insiders.

And it turns out that a Brigadier General is involved, so much for the low ranking theory.

Even if it was only a cleaner who pulled off such a haul, this represent a major security breach. A fighter jet engine doesn't go missing just like that without anyone knowing. When you put your Mercedes Benz in some workshop, the engine doesn't go missing even if only one mechanic is there to take care of things, so how can a bunch of people with big guns, checkpoints, CCTV, security measures cannot prevent the theft?

Either Zahid did not do his homework or he tried to play down and cover up the incident, this proves that he is not fit to be a trustworthy minister whose salary is paid by taxpayers.

Najib Razak, the current Prime Minister whom the theft happened during his time as Defence Minister should shoulder all the blame. This is a RM 50 million F 5E engine, not some Proton manufactured Campro engine.

Najib also said there is no cover up, but why oh why, Mr Prime Minister, that we only hear of the theft now, at the end of 2009, when the incident happened in 2007? Merely lodging a police report does not mean no cover up. As the incident is of substantial graveness, a responsible minister should announce to the whole country of such security breach to an armed force charged with defending the country.

Now explain, Najib and Zahid, how could such incident happened? Why is there no announcement at the time of the incident? Why no one was hauled to the Court even though some were sacked?

Explain with due respect to the intelligence of the taxpayers or resign. We do not need untrustworthy ministers.

Penang Finally Bans BTN

It seems that Penang finally bans BTN

Announcement is made by Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman.

The question is, what Kedah and Kelantan is waiting for? Or maybe what claimed by Selangor and other Pakatan leaders are wrong?

Show some concerted effort ok?

Only Utusan Malaysia Can Relate "Frog Stepping" to Race and May 13'

It must be admitted, politics in Malaysia is very much dominated by race.

But you seldom see Pakatan and its media fanning racism, except maybe the few exceptions.

Raja Petra in Malaysia Today posted a piece of news from Utusan Malaysia, which commented on the recent "frog stepping" by DAP, which RPK said it is a warning of another May 13, or at least Utusan is fanning it.

Really, i don't think those acts by DAP merits any news space, except maybe for a little laughter. But of course, Utusan cannot help by linking race and Chinese versus Malay in every single issue.

So again, Utusan goes on saying PAS and PKR are the "yes man" of DAP, that Chinese no longer respecting Malay because DAP step on three photos, two of them Malays and one Chinese, and that if the Malays were to do the same, May 13 can reoccur (read here).

Let me quote the last paragraphs;

Wow, somehow Hee Yit Foong got missing somewhere!!

And get this "orang Melayu BANGKIT dan bertindak memijak..."

So when they do the same "childish" act, they are called "bangkit"? When those DAPs did the same they are childish and racist?

To me, this is smacked of racism, supremacist, apartheid, creating racial disharmony, traitorous to the good order of the society.

Nothing new actually, just that Utusan still managed to convert many Malays' thinking and this is dangerous.

But just allow me to say this - race is but a color. It is you who define who the hell you are.

So don't get excited by those who just wanted to use color to gain power and money. Use your own brain and think, whether the matter is as such. Don't be blinded by propagandas imparted by mainstream media, BTN, whatnots.

Did Nazri Aziz Just Admitted BTN is Racist?

I think Minister in Prime Minister Department, Nazri Aziz just admitted that BTN is racist.

No, i did not invent that. Not that i have ever invented something and pass it off and genuine.

Let me quote what TheMalaysianInsider reported about what he said

“We agree to revamp BTN because the co-curriculum is against Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia
concept”

“It’s a decision in line with the 1 Malaysia concept so the programmes must be (racially) inclusive
and not divisive for the Malaysian people”

See Here

Now read carefully. Did Nazri not said BTN is against 1Malaysia? Did Nazri not said programmes must be racially inclusive and not divisive?

So, if BTN needs to be revamped due to those reason, is it not that BTN is racial divisive aka creating racial disharmony aka racist?

So now the Chief Secretary had been tasked to revamp the course in BTN. Now if that BTN had no problem, there is no need to revamp it.

And since the reason is due to the course needs to be in line with 1Malaysia and must be racially divisive, then we can conclude that now, it is not in line with 1Malaysia and racial divisive.

Hey, this is logic, so don't try to deny it.

By the way, no need to revamp, just close it down already.

What? Penang only MAY Ban BTN? Just Ban Them Already!!

Now this is surely stupid.

Hey, if all the Pakatan big guns go a blazing against the Biro Tatanegara course, with it being the next big issue, why would a Pakatan-controlled state only "seriously consider" banning BTN course?

Why not just say, "we are pushing to ban BTN at all level"?

Or maybe some of you people actually wanted to continue with it?

Pakatan states all had some problems controlling the civil servants (except maybe Kelantan), which is why they are still having a hard time governing. It is time they cut all the link to the Federal level in term of civil servants, and the first step is BTN.

Then try to "buy over" the senior civil servants to gain co operation. No i don't mean corruption, just get them over. Only when the heads toe the line, the limbs will follow suit.

And please, don't "may" or "consider". Just ban them already.

And Kedah and Kelantan, especially Kedah, please follow suit. Not that BTN is really good.

Namewee TNB Rap - TNB CEO Shows His Arrogance and Incompetence

TNB CEO, Che Khalid Mohamad Nor, said he does not want to be as stupid as Namewee, when commenting on the latest tirade by Namewee against TNB.

Namewee who gained fame and notoriety with his Negarakuku, this time launched his assault against the national electric supplier, TNB, with his rap song that has been circulating for some time now, "Namewee Fxxx TNB".

So how do our smart TNB CEO responded to Namewee?

“Saya sendiri melihat video itu, kakitangan TNB cuba menjelaskan kepadanya, ini adalah masalah gangguan kita tidak tahu bagaimana ia berlaku kerana ia boleh berpunca daripada pelbagai sebab, mungkin kabel putus dan kerja-kerja pengorekan jalan,”

“Kalau saya berada di tempatnya sudah tentu saya akan ‘save’ lagu ciptaan saya,” katanya lagi.

From TheMalaysianInsider, click the above link

Translation (my own) -

"i had seen the video. TNB staffs had tried to explain to him, this is the problem of breakdown, we do not know how it happens because it could happen for varieties of reason, maybe cable breaking down and digging of roads"

"If i were him, i would have 'save' his song"

Wow, and i thought he is that smart.

So basically, he is telling Malaysian that he is soooo smart that after all the time of the rap song circulating, and even managed to get into the news, that he still do not know, or didn't bother to find out, why the hell there is a breakdown.

And his solution to the public - click "save" on your work every second, so that your work won't be affected by the breakdown in electricity supply, which TNB could never find out why, just blind guessing like how Mr. CEO did.

Maybe monopoly and Government backing made this CEO and his entity blind. They forgot to serve the public. If it breakdown, it broke down, no reason given. Just keep quiet and shut the trap up.

Now who is stupid? Namewee or TNB CEO?

Granted, shouting profanities are bad and tasteless, fit for uncivilized persons, but for TNB CEO who claims to be in a higher place, surely this show of arrogance and incompetence are unacceptable?

Hey Najib, when are you going to sack him?

BTN - Something We Don't Need

As expected b y many, after the blanket ban imposed by Selangor state government on Biro Tatanegara (BTN) course, both side of the fence started to scream at each other.

Those from Pakatan side said it was indoctrination camp, breeding racial disharmony and converting people to the Barisan Nasional.

Those from BN, as expected, claimed that their camp merely instilling patriotism, nothing more.

It all boils down to who you will believe in.

But mind you, the protest against BTN did not start yesterday. Malaysia Today, with Raja Petra and columnist like Azly Rahman had long made a stand against it. Many of the participants had had a bad experience with it, notably Asrul Hadi who wrote in TheMalaysianInsider that BTN taught the participants that the Chinese are the Jews of Asia, whatever it means, and Mohd Asrul Abu Hassan who wrote something similar.

Of course, our BN leaders refuted these claims, saying that there is no element of racism in the camps.

I got no interest of whether there is or there is not elements of racism. Afterall, politicians will claim that they got revelation from God that they should be the King, if the people will believe them.

For me, any type of indoctrination camp, whether to instill patriotism, racism, national service, whatis and whatnot should not be allowed. People should be given freedom of thought, without being hindered by someone with some motives. Enough of all those brainwashing in the schools and in the History textbook. Just let them be.

I would not trust anyone from this country to conduct any type of these camps. As long as there are "camps", there will be people brainwashing.

For all that i am concerned, i myself will boycott any "camps", if you like it so much, by all means, go ahead. Don't force others to follow you.

Yes, i am referring to Barisan "leaders". If the course is so good, there is no need to make it compulsory, just let the people choose if they wanted to come or not. Compulsory means indoctrination, full stop.

Finally, Someone Officially Ban BTN

The moment we are all waiting for is here.

Finally, Selangor made a ban on Biro Tatanegara courses, which many accused it of spreading propaganda and sowing racial disharmony.

The ban covers Selangor civil servants, and institute of higher educations owned by Selangor government.

It remains to be seen if the ban can be effective, since many had doubted the capability of the Selangor state government of controlling its civil servants.

But this is a step towards the right direction. It is hoped that all Pakatan states impose the same ban.

Muhyiddin to KuLi : You Can Decide, But Barisan MP Should Not Join

What a bull.

That is what aptly describe the "freedom" Muhyiddin gave to Tengku Razaleigh aka KuLi.

Muhyiddin said it is up to KuLi to decide if the latter wanted to chair the parliamentary caucus to draft a bill on oil royalty payment proposed by the Oppositions.

But funnily, Muhyiddin then said Barisan MPs should not join the caucus because there are certain principles that they have to abide, apart from they had direct access to informations from the ministry.

From what i can deduce;

1. Either KuLi is not allowed to join the caucus or KuLi is no longer considered Barisan MP.

2. Barisan had a monopoly of information on how country's wealth is managed and how taxpayer's money is spent. Not even the citizens or the Parliament had the privilege.

So, where do KuLi stands in the eye of Barisan?

Where do the rakyat stands in the eye of Barisan?

Dr. Pornthip Claim She Was Followed, Teoh Beng Hock Second Post Mortem Concluded

Today, the second post mortem on Teoh Beng Hock was completed, but the findings were not revealed to the public (see here and here).

Apparently, the families of Teoh were briefed by Dr. Pornthip, but they couldn't understand her because she is too technical.

The public will then have to wait for the result when the inquest continues on December 9th.

The autopsy was conducted by Dr. Shahidan Mad Noor and was observed by Dr. Pornthip, who was appointed by Selangor government and Dr. Peter Vanezis who represented MACC.

Meanwhile, Dr. Pornthip claimed that she was followed when she was on the way to the cemetery for exhumation, of which the police provided protection swiftly upon such claim.

Button Jumped to McLaren as Raikkonen Quits F1

In a bizarre but predictable development, Button finally signs for McLaren while Raikkonen, who was previously forced out of Ferrari took a temporary retreat to rallying.

Interestingly, both decisions was due to money.

Button chose McLaren over Brawn (now Mercedes GP) as Brawn can't pay him the money he wanted.

Raikkonen meanwhile was dissatisfied with the money McLaren offered him.

Button's move however drew a cleavage of reactions. On one side of the coin, McLaren seems to favor their favourite son Lewis Hamilton a tad little much. Other than that, with a different driving style, McLaren might have a problem developing the cars that suit both of them.

On the other hand, one invariably got excited with the prospect of having two back to back world champions in the same team, and finally can compare between the two in a same platform.

Though, the mouth watering fight between four former world champions in competitive cars did not materialize, one can still look forward to season 2010 with dreamy eyes, especially Malaysians who can finally see for themselves how owning a F1 team can be an enriching, or disappointing experience.

While British fans can see if Lotus's name is being sullied by a bunch of Malaysian owners.

And to wonder if Fairuz Fauzy will be the second Alex Yoong, whom one can always look for the name at the bottom of the list, or sometimes in the DNQ list.

Nazri, Swallow Your Pride and Let Karpal Prosecute Lingam

If you are useless, let others do it for you.

Since Nazri said he can't find any law that Lingam broke in his infamous tape of brokering judicial appointment, give it to Karpal Singh.

What? I can't hear your response yet.

If Karpal took it up and screwed up in the process, you can be gleefully laughing and say "Told ya so!"

Even if he succeeded, you can still be a gentleman and pat him on the shoulder, saying "Well done". Everyone will praise you as a gentleman.

Afterall, the AG is quite near retirement age, while Lingam is replaceable. That bloke who was a judge is no longer a judge. You don't lost anything.

Except maybe these people may reveal something you don't like.

In that case, just take out the old book, and throw at them, like you did PI Bala.

Opps, not working huh?

Who ask you to open your mouth without thinking?

Even i can think of a few provision to charge that korekman Lingam.

World Bank : Malaysia's Economy Caught in a Trap

This has long been suspected and now we have a World Bank report supporting it.

We are neither here nor there.

We have lost the cost-competitive edge, prompting the direct investment to flow to other countries, notably Thailand and Indonesia.

But the bad news is, we are not in high income group like Singapore and Hong Kong either. We have no cutting edge technology, thus unable to move up the value chain.

To put insult into injury, the World Bank noted another open secret - our education system sucks. We produced ten of thousands of ill-equipped graduates each year, just who need this bunch of pricks when you really need innovations and knowledge to move up?

Where to move forward?

There are too many leaking holes in the ship. Just to identify a few; corruption, discriminative protectionism, outflow of brains, non-condusive environment for professionals, restrictive fundamental liberties.

We could have been very advanced. We had resources, we had man power, we had brains. But maybe too much resources proved to be a bane. We just lack drive. We just laid back. And now, if nothing is done, we are screwed.

IGP Says Those Criticizing Police are Supporting Criminals

Inspector General of Police Musa Hassan seems to think that the taxpayers who paid his salaries are too dumb.

We do not support criminals. But we uphold fundamental liberties. Those are suspected criminals, not convicted ones. Even if they are guilty, they had their own rights.

And what about those who died in custody? With so many politically related arrest, it makes all the sense in the world that the police might not be playing fair, nor did they inspire confidence.

High Court Put EC Back to Its Place by Declaring Kota Siputeh State Seat Vacant

The High Court put Election Commission back into their rightful place when it declared the Kota Siputeh seat vacant (see here and here).

Kota Siputeh assemblyman Abu Hassan Sarif (from Barisan Nasional) was earlier sacked from State Assembly when he failed to turn up for two consecutive sittings without leave, in accordance to Kedah State Constitution.

To recap, he informed the the clerk of legislature of his reason for absence after three days when the clerk called him. He then forwarded a Medical Certificate as proof. He did not obtain prior permission for absentia.

When the Speaker of Kedah State Assembly declared the seat vacant, the Election Commission decided that the seat was in fact not vacant, and accepted the MC as proof.

High Court Judge Alizatul ruled that the EC had encroached into the power of the Speaker. The Court found that it was the discretion of the Speaker and rights and privilege committee to accept or reject the MC, and not the EC.

The EC had, since the Perak Turmoil, suddenly had its power enlarged. It can now decide which seat is vacant and which is not, which was traditionally the power of the Speaker. Such power, together with the power to decide the border of constituency and constituents roll, had put too much a prerogative on them.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Hopefully, more judgments by the Court can overturn the effect of the judgment of the "frog case" during the Perak Turmoil, and put EC really back to its place.

PI Bala Said He Was Offered RM 5 million and Families are Threatened

In an interview carried by Malaysia Today, PI Bala claimed that he was threatened with his families safety, and was offered RM 4 million, which was subsequently improved to RM 5 million.

No names were dropped except the infamous carpetman, Deepak.

When Freedom of Speech Became the Domain of One Religious Agency

Not learning from the uproar over the arrest of Dr. Asri, or maybe they are proud of it, JAIS decided that it is fit to issue a statement that basically saying everyone, including mufti and ulama', must obtain their permission before being allowed to speak in Selangor.

JAIS, or Selangor Islamic Religious Department in English, said that they will not cede in this matter as it was provided in the state religious enactment.

While conceding that there are certain people being exempted, JAIS director Muhammad Khusrin nevertheless said they too must obtain approval before speaking, using the analogy of when one is entering other people's house, he must first greet.

There are, unfortunately, a few fallacies in his argument.

First of all, this chap must be reminded that Selangor does not belongs to JAIS or him. One need not greet him or Jais as they are not entering their properties. If i were to enter Jais office or Khusrin's house, maybe i will have to follow procedure but as far as the state of Selangor is concerned, they had no say. No one should be asked to seek permission before speaking, as this is a restriction on freedom of speech.

After the passing of the Prophet (pbuh), the ulama' need not seek approval when giving ijtihad (religious opinion), even when there are cases of false prophet. The Syariah expanded rapidly and comprehensively, and no one authority dare to say one need to obtain permission to speak. If only permission were needed, Islam will not be as rich as it is during its golden era, nor will it be today.

Tracing back even to the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), shall there be a need for permission to be granted before one is allowed to speak, the will be no Islam as we know today. Muhammad s.a.w. will be chucked into jail in no time like Dr. Asri. Like RPK said, if only they had ISA that time. I would say, if they had something like JAIS that time.

I will end this by just saying, their actions are misguided. If they were to argue that it is to prevent deviant teaching, they can always haul them to the court later for that, but now, it is clear, it is not about deviant teaching, it is more like they wanted to be in the power, to grant permission, that is.

Are you telling me muftis and ulama's are the teacher of the deviants? Are you saying Dr. Asri is such person.

Surely not, or so i hope.

PI Bala : I Was Offered RM 5 Million to Retract 1st SD

After promising the reader of the return of Bala, true to his word, Raja Petra Kamaruddin followed up with a video uploaded to YouTube of an interview with PI Bala.

And it was in part, maybe to arouse interest.

The first part is this;

Basically, Bala said he was offered RM 5 million to retract his first statutory declaration (SD) which is highly damaging to Najib Razak, the current Prime Minister of Malaysia. He reiterate his first SD again.

More should come as to his further ordeal, which can only be bad to Najib administration.

To recap, Bala was the private investigator employed by Razak Baginda against the alleged harassment of Altantuya. While the case was ongoing, he suddenly made an SD linking Najib Razak to Altantuya. Interestingly, he retracted this SD by making a new one. Then, his whole family went missing.

Now how will Najib response to the latest Bala bombshell?

New Way of Summoning Accused to Court - By Telling the Media

As far as i know, when an accused person is to be charged in the court, he must be told of it by the prosecution or the Court.

But no, not in Malaysia.

(one of the news portal that carry the news of him being charged tomorrow, click here)

Hence, he will not be present tomorrow as it was not according to procedure.

Is this the way to summon the accused?

Or this is the new way?

Or maybe JAIS way?

I got no idea.

All i know, this is illegal, if what Dr. Asri claimed is true.

Art Harun Exposes Utusan Malaysia Mini Lie

This is hilarious. I didn't know Art Harun can be that petty. And i didn't know Utusan can be that desperate. And the mini lie was actually just an unneeded face saving for BN.

What actually did Art Harun found out??

It was a reporting for a murder case. And all newspapers had an identical photograph, that look like this;

[Harian Metro[3].jpg]
(picture by Harian Metro, copied from Art Harun blog)

So what did Utusan do?

Its hilarious..Promise..

The Failings of Pakatan Rakyat

After March 8, 2008, we all thought Malaysia will be heading towards better days, with proper check and balance in place.

Indeed, there are some progresses and promises.

But Pakatan failed miserably, as far as PR is concerned.

PKR looks more and more like UMNO reincarnated. You can't blame them, most of them are UMNO rejects and might just take that UMNO attitude in. And so, you have some problematic children running around pretending to be a Wakil Rakyat, but trying to cash in and screwing up the ship whenever possible.

Many says give them a break, they are just on a learning curve. A break my ass. If you can't vet them in the first place, and put all the incompetents as candidates, you don't have my respect. Purge them, and say so. Loudly.

But when Zaid, the better of UMNO rejects, came in to steer the ship forward, the warlords in PKR did all they can to kick him aside. Doesn't this looks like someones are putting themselves over the cause they claimed to be championing? To me, it looks like UMNO, sounds like UMNO and smells like UMNO.

PAS meanwhile seems to be confused of their direction, the latest seminar notwithstanding. But looking back, they are the one who eagerly wanted to unite with UMNO right after the election, with the Hadi faction the biggest culprit. You can't say that they are new kids learning the trade. They are veterans. PAS had wasted the trusted given to them by moderate Muslims and non Muslims. As far as eyes can see, they had even more works to do than UMNO to gain back the lost grounds.

The latest unity seminar also shows some traits unbecoming of a party aspiring to lead. Why so defensive over some criticisms? Eventhough i personally had not much liking for Abdul Aziz Bari, but as far as freedom of speech is concerned, he had every right to criticize. What more he is a voter, and PAS is a political party in power. If PAS is so adverse to criticism, will Taliban be the way of PAS?

No, don't tell me Hadi told everyone to accept criticism. What's with the remark that some just wanted to throw firecrackers into the field? If anyone were to say anything, just take note, and reflect. That is the way for a party aspiring to lead. Or you are nothing more than the one currently holding federal power.

DAP meanwhile is as childish as ever. If you are already in power, act like a government, not an opposition or a pressure group. Kampung Buah Pala is one place where they can show some leadership, but the chose to blame former BN government instead. And as a party aspiring to be in power, they should show more constructive efforts, and shed their old skin.

And is it me or others do notice, why DAP looks more and more like a family business? When will non-Lim and non-Karpal families hold real leadership post in DAP? If i am mistaken, please correct me.

And since you are a partner with PAS, do refrain from taking a swipe at them whenever you disagree. If you need some PR, just get PAS to a table and inform us of it. After discussions, gave out the result. No need for public squabbles. And the same goes to PAS.

Though, i would commend DAP for having less troubles. Having more Malays in the party would be better.

Where will Pakatan be leading? They looked to be in better shape now, with PAS finally wholeheartedly pledging support. We do hope to see some better showing from Pakatan or else there is no longer any point for democracy in Malaysia, since they are all he same

There MACC Goes Again

One death is not enough, MACC goes on relentlessly to fish in deep sea, this time by manhandling Ronnie Liu's aide Wong Chuan How.

Wong who made an appointment with MACC earlier as a witness was then approached by five MACC officers in his service centre and told him he is now a suspect and wanted to follow them to their office. Wong's office wanted Wong to lodge a police report first in the light of Teoh's death, which all parties, MACC included, agreed, or so claim Lim Kit Siang.

When they were out of Wong's service centre, three unidentified guys tried to handcuff him and drag Wong into their car, perhaps trying to make a fantastic arrest scene fit for the TV.

But any reasonable man would resist such agression from unidentified man, lest be kidnapped and killed, and Wong did just the same. The scuffle ended with Wong injuring his leg.

TheStar's version of the story is however decidedly different. It reported that Wong had earlier agreed to be arrested, then changed his mind. He injured his leg when trying to "free himself".

I wonder how will other newspaper, especially Utusan and Berita Harian report the incident.

MACC undue aggression or Pakatan politician tries to run away?

You decide.

Now H1N1 Is Resistant to Tamilflu

In the early time of H1N1, everyone was quite relieved that Tamilflu is somewhat effective against it.

This, however, may change very soon as more and more Tamilflu resistant cases surfaced.

Does this mean having leukeamia and stem cell transplant make the H1N1 virus resistant to Tamilflu? I do not know as i am no expert.

Most of the 11 Tamilflu resistant cases patients had earlier taken Tamilflu, except one. And the source of infection of this one exceptional case is still unknown.

Perhaps soon we may be in uncharted territory again, keep safe and take care, everyone.

Selangor Next to Fall?

All signs are pointing towards the UMNO-BN training all guns and left no bullet unfired to take Selangor back into their fore.

It is easy to understand why - Selangor is the richest states and the Opposition is most diverse.

Unlike Kelantan and Penang, Selangor had no dominant party. Anyone flop, the state falls.

And had not it been the Teoh's death, UMNO-BN may have already taken the state, creating another Constitutional crisis.

And this time, UMNO-BN seems to be playing the racial card to kill Selangor Pakatan.

There was a blog said to be criticizing RAja Nazrin was attributed to Loke, the Rasah assemblyman, which he denied and reported to Police on it, but damage may have been done, and certainly Police would not "have the time" to clear his name.

MACC also do all they can by fishing for wrongdoings on the Pakatan assemblymen, most, if not all, against the DAP assembltman, which culminated in Teoh's death. But it that does not end there. Another blog was created to blame the death on DAP instead of MACC, with some dubious looking documents were posted on it, even until now. And with that, MACC continued with the next target said to be Ronnie Liu.

And the old argument that Anwar is a traitor to Malays were bandied around ad infinitum.

A lie when oft repeated may become the (distorted) truth, and maybe they hope to do just that, it will be enough to fool enough people for just enough time.

But nothing will be more damaging than own goal. Stupid DAP and PAS are quarrelling again, with Ronnie Liu (yes, him again) and Selangor PAS chief and fellow exco HAssan Ali on what is now dubbed the beer dispute.

The two stupid men who forgot how to solve behind closed door and in exco meeting provided just the ammo for UMNO-BN and their newspaper to attack them and calling them divisive. In perhaps an attempt to lure PAS away, the papers seems to be attacking Ronnie (and Jeff Ooi, another bloke who forgot what a politician should and should not say) and painting DAP as racist and anti Islam.

It must not be forgotten that in Malaysia, it does not matter what the voters want. IF UMNO-BN can entice a few assemblymen to cross over, for whatever reason, screw the voters, we got the state.

And all the quarelling may be just enough for a few self appointed religious defenders, bearers of the justice, and "principled" spines to seek better pasture, somewhere.

And consider all the money in the process.

And all these, money and religion and whatnot, is all for the sake of the race, people, and religion, or so they claimed.

Teoh Inquest : Stain on Stairway not Blood, More Suspicious Stain in MACC Office

While it seems that the blood in the emergency stairway on MAsalam Building where MACC office is situated is not blood, there are some other evidences that seems to slip past everyone's mind till now.

Some fibres believed to be fallen from Teoh's trousers when he hit the ground and they are taken for further testing.

Gobind Singh Deo, lawyer for the Teoh family, said the fibre may proved significant.

He also said that the former investigation missed out many points and the three and a half weeks elapsed had not make thing easier.

Foreign experts also made varying views from the Malaysian experts on the cause of death. And there will be another expert from Thailand to help the inquest.

If such were the standard of our Police and CSI, then maybe all investigation will need an inquest. If that is the case, why not we just change our justice system into inquisitorial system? That will benefits everyone, instead of letting our Police to have a free hand.

Another By-Election On Card at Permatang Pasir

Permatang Pasir assemblyman Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman passed away at IJN today, paving a way for another by election.

Condolences to his families and friends.

And BN this time declared they will contest, perhaps embolden by their better than expected show in Manek Urai.

Will PAS be able to keep its seat again?

Roadblocks Everywhere Only Heigthen Excitement of ISA RAlly

With so many roadblocks, the ill informed might think there is a terrorist within us trying to blow KLCC up.

But alas, no.

Those roadblocks are meant to prevent tens of thousands of people from attending two rivalling rallies, one held against ISA and to hand over a memorandum to National Palace while another is to rally for ISA.

This is a great battle of rallies, with the Police now in an undesirable position.

And the roadblocks that set 24 hours before the events only serve to heigthen the excitement of it, with road users waiting to see what's their frustration on traffic jam gonna worth.

With Pakatan endorsing the against-ISA rally, a big fight is on the card.

Just hope that they won't be fooled into street fight, which will bring untold miseries to many.

no, this time, i am not taking side, nor be attending.

Selangor Appoints Malik Imtiaz For Teoh Beng Hock Inquest and Royal Commission, Established Internal Audit

Selangor took the matter into its own hand by appointing esteemed human rights lawyer Malik Imtiaz to represent the state in the Teoh Beng Hock's inquest and the Royal Commission.

The inquest, which will be done by Shah Alam magistrate's court, will commenced from July 29 to August 12 while the Royal Commission had yet to be determined.

The much vaulted Royal Commission however is very much circumscribed, with their role confined to looking at MACC interrogation method and if Teoh's human rights had been violated while the cause of his death is left to a magistrate, though the citizens had demanded to know the truth behind his death from the Royal Commission, the independent body.

Meanwhile, the internal audit's result will be available to everyone who care to red it, demonstarting an accountable face of Selangor.

Kematian Teoh Beng Hock Bukan Isu Orang Cina Tapi Isu Hak Asasi Rakyat Malaysia

Isu Teoh Beng Hock bukan isu perkauman tetapi satu isu kebangsaan, satu isu hak asasi manusia.

New Blog Accusing DAP of Corruption and (indirectly) "Killing" Teoh Beng Hock

If this new, anonymous blog is to be believed, Ronnie Liu of DAP, assemblyman of Sg. Pelek, Exco of Selangor, is a big corrupt guy.

And if this blog is to be believed, Ronnie Liu is also a dumb person who does not know how to cover his track.

But alas, shall we believe in what this blog had to claim?

This blog (http://t4tbh.blogspot.com/), first of all, did not have an identifiable blogger, but this is not something new, so nothing about it.

But consider this, the blog did not allow comment.

The so called documentary proofs are nothing more than a few pages of tables that everyone who with an ounce of computer knowledge can create.

There is no signatory, no letterhead, absolutely no one we can refer to to authenticate the content.

You see, i am receptive of the idea the Pakatan might also be corrupt. Be do furnish more accurate evidences and information.

And it is public perception (and perhaps knowledge) that the Governmental agencies can hardly be trusted when dealing with the Oppositions.

Until more are furnished, this blog, which was quoted in TheStar, TheMalaysianInsider and even Malaysia Today, cannot be trusted. It looks more like a propaganda blog rather than an authentic pressure blog.

Royal Commission's Scope of Reference is a Joke. Cruel One.

When Teoh Beng Hock died, there was a mass grief, and it lasted till now.

And as reactive as Malaysians and their authorities are, every agencies starting to wanting to probe his death.

Police got the main piece of action, as untrusted as they are by the citizens.

MACC wanted to investigate itself, as though it will call itself guilty.

Then Suhakam also wanted a piece of action, probing if Teoh's human rights were being infringed.

And all these are just useless investigations in the eyes of Malaysians.

And finally, the Government relented, finally establishing the Royal Commission to investigate the death.

But no, it will not get to investigate why Teoh died. Instead, it will only get to study the method of interrogation of MACC and whether Teoh's human rights had been violated.

The cause of death will be left to an inquest to be presided by a magistrate.

What kind of stupid joke is this?

Do Najib knows why there is a need for a Royal Commission? It is because they are (preceived) to be impartial. Malaysians no longer trust the Police, MACC, judiciary and whatnots. And Suhakam is just a toothless kitten.

What we want to know is how Toeh died. We need an impartial body to investigate it. That's why we want a Royal Commission. It matters not the magistrate can do the job, but we want someone whom we can trust, and who has persuasive power in their findings. We don't need someone who can get into the position once he graduates from law school to do the job. We want experience, bravery, and knowledge, and these are what to be expected from a Royal Commission.

Royal Commission need not investigate the method of MACC. Suhakam can do the job. Afterall, whatever the findings are just that, findings. They will never get recognition from the Government, as shown in many Royal Commission and Suhakam reports.

WE want heads to roll for Teoh's death. And only a finding by Royal Commissions can be a pressure big enough to do so.

Najib being afraid to let Royal Commission to do the job, obviously had something he dared not face. If that is so, Najib, you can go.

TEngku Fakhry Sues Manohara For RM 105 million

Finally, the Prince sues his wife Manohara and her mother for defamation. And the figure is not small too, RM 105 million, enough to wipe out any money Manohara might earn from her story.

But weird thing though, he is suing her in Malaysian court, though she obviously resides now in Indonesia. Further, the alleged defamation also happened in Indonesia. Would not it make more sense to sue her there?

I remember Tengku Razaleigh sues many publications in their home countries and get a handsome amount of money for his trouble.

Either Tengku believes he cannot get a fair trial in Indonesia or he believes he will win in Malaysia, i know not.

MACC & Teoh Beng Hock : Another Bane for Najib

From the day Najib went on to be Prime Minister, he rarely took a step wrong, perhaps thanks to his (or many Rosmah's) team of advisers who managed to craft some exceptional policies and speeches for him.

See, the Perak fiasco managed to let him take hold of the many warlords in UMNO, portraying a strong-man image.

Even the many liberalizations that generally benefits (on the surface) non-Malays and foreign investors managed to be offset with some saving steps like Ekuinas and Malay supremacy rhetorics, together with the future of the children, through the teaching of Science and Math, are being gambled to gain more votes and supports, and admittably, they managed to gain a lot of supports from all communities, culminating in his 65% approval rating.

I do not know if UMNO-Najib was really planning to overthrow the Selangor government the way RPK described. But whatever it is, the death of TEoh Beng Hock really screwed him up. Just when his, and BN's hope in the next general election can see some light (as evidenced by the 65 votes loss in PAS stronghold), a death in dubious circumstances will no doubt set him back by lightyears, no thank to some idiots in MACC.

Suddenly, the whole nation thrown into chaos of anger and frustration. Suddenly, the racial overtone in Utusan and other UMNO newspapers no longer working. Suddenly, even MCA and MIC no longer with UMNO and MACC. Suddenly, anyone who is with MACC in this issue is facing the whole nation, alone.

This will screw Najib up. The way out for him might not be so easy. Perhaps, someone had to be sacrificed, to win back support of the people.

Initial Pathologist Report Reveals Teoh Beng Hock Died From Falling, Police Did Not Rule Out Foul Play, Yet

Initial pathologist report released on Saturday shows that Teoh Beng Hock died of multiple injuries caused by falling but Police had not ruled out foul play, and will continue to record statements from MACC officers.

The time of death of Teoh, however, is still unknown, pending full report.

Police had also seize CCTV footage from the building adjacent to MACC HQ (of which Teoh fell onto) but there was no CCTV on MACC building.

Police are said to be investigating MACC interrogation method, something that if not done well, may either place distrust of the public on the Police investigation, or might sour the relationship between the graft busters and crime busters.

The Cabinet, meanwhile, will discuss if a Royal Commission is to be established to investigate the death. Deputy Pemier Muhyyiddin Yassin said the matter will be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting.

The nation meanwhile, waited with bated breath.
