But what is worst is the way the Education Director General profiles the school, and the way TheStar carries the profile.
I confess here i have not read other news portal about the incident, but what i read in TheStar really put me off.
The Education DG and TheStar, first of all, revealed the name of the school where the crime took place. Mind all of you that the victim as well as the alleged culprits are all minor, and any profiling is, to say the least, unethical. But this does not seem to deter Education director-general Alimuddin Mohd Dom, who incidentally had a Tan Sri in front of his name, from revealing the school name. Having done that, TheStar also had no problem stating aloud, ok, maybe not aloud, but in black and white and in full, the school name.
How uncaring can they be? Do they want the victim to be further stigmatized? Do they want all the students studying there, past and present, to forever bear the burden of a school known for all sort of crimes and sadistic rape?
As though this is not enough, the one who had a Tan Sri in front of his name, maybe too caught up in the by-elections lately, even laid out the racial composition of the school, just like how all news portal like to do during the recent by-elections. What, are we trying to ascertain which party to stand for election?
This dude who has a Tan Sri in front of his name might think that he is very smart by profiling the race composition. But i want to ask - what is his motive? That certain race in this country is a trouble maker and violent race?
Nevermind that, TheStar thinks it fit to quote this profiling as well, for reason best know to themselves.
Teachers, and any educationists put the welfare of the students above anything else.
But what is our Education DG doing exactly? Telling us which school not to send our children to?
Come on lar.. You think people staying there dunno ar?
Mass media, meanwhile, often pride themselves as being the voice of the people, being the opinion shaper of the mass.
But this kind of reporting?
Can we have some ethical, logical and reasonable humans in Malaysia speak out please?
