The Failings of Pakatan Rakyat

After March 8, 2008, we all thought Malaysia will be heading towards better days, with proper check and balance in place.

Indeed, there are some progresses and promises.

But Pakatan failed miserably, as far as PR is concerned.

PKR looks more and more like UMNO reincarnated. You can't blame them, most of them are UMNO rejects and might just take that UMNO attitude in. And so, you have some problematic children running around pretending to be a Wakil Rakyat, but trying to cash in and screwing up the ship whenever possible.

Many says give them a break, they are just on a learning curve. A break my ass. If you can't vet them in the first place, and put all the incompetents as candidates, you don't have my respect. Purge them, and say so. Loudly.

But when Zaid, the better of UMNO rejects, came in to steer the ship forward, the warlords in PKR did all they can to kick him aside. Doesn't this looks like someones are putting themselves over the cause they claimed to be championing? To me, it looks like UMNO, sounds like UMNO and smells like UMNO.

PAS meanwhile seems to be confused of their direction, the latest seminar notwithstanding. But looking back, they are the one who eagerly wanted to unite with UMNO right after the election, with the Hadi faction the biggest culprit. You can't say that they are new kids learning the trade. They are veterans. PAS had wasted the trusted given to them by moderate Muslims and non Muslims. As far as eyes can see, they had even more works to do than UMNO to gain back the lost grounds.

The latest unity seminar also shows some traits unbecoming of a party aspiring to lead. Why so defensive over some criticisms? Eventhough i personally had not much liking for Abdul Aziz Bari, but as far as freedom of speech is concerned, he had every right to criticize. What more he is a voter, and PAS is a political party in power. If PAS is so adverse to criticism, will Taliban be the way of PAS?

No, don't tell me Hadi told everyone to accept criticism. What's with the remark that some just wanted to throw firecrackers into the field? If anyone were to say anything, just take note, and reflect. That is the way for a party aspiring to lead. Or you are nothing more than the one currently holding federal power.

DAP meanwhile is as childish as ever. If you are already in power, act like a government, not an opposition or a pressure group. Kampung Buah Pala is one place where they can show some leadership, but the chose to blame former BN government instead. And as a party aspiring to be in power, they should show more constructive efforts, and shed their old skin.

And is it me or others do notice, why DAP looks more and more like a family business? When will non-Lim and non-Karpal families hold real leadership post in DAP? If i am mistaken, please correct me.

And since you are a partner with PAS, do refrain from taking a swipe at them whenever you disagree. If you need some PR, just get PAS to a table and inform us of it. After discussions, gave out the result. No need for public squabbles. And the same goes to PAS.

Though, i would commend DAP for having less troubles. Having more Malays in the party would be better.

Where will Pakatan be leading? They looked to be in better shape now, with PAS finally wholeheartedly pledging support. We do hope to see some better showing from Pakatan or else there is no longer any point for democracy in Malaysia, since they are all he same
